Highly Illogical

I stumbled upon this sketch of Spock that I did at SLG’s convention last year. I was randomly doing a bunch of little drawings to get people’s attention, including  Poison Ivy, Wolverine, and Spock, who was bought up by Kevin before the ink even dried. Fun stuff!

Also, just posted a new comic page over at [...]

Octopus Tattoo

octopustattoo

I’m excited to say I finished a new commission and I like how it turned out! Doublehappy joy asked for either Bunny Boy’s coffee shop tattoo girl, or an octopus holding lollipops. I of course took this as a challenge to combine the two. Here’s the inks before I painted her:

I’ve been doing a bunch of [...]

Projector

I bought an opaque projector off Craigslist this week.

It’s so much fun it’s crazy. So now I’m going through my sketchbooks and projecting my favorite little sketches huge! It’s amazingly freeing to draw so large and to know I’m not losing the looseness of my sketches in the process.

There’ll be a lot more of these as I [...]

Comic Classes for Kids, and moths

I’m teaching a comic book drawing class for kids this summer! It takes place in Santa Cruz at Cabrillo College, for 6th through 9th graders, during the last two months of June. If you know any kids who might be interested, please take a look at the Cabrillo website. Cheers!

Lately I’ve been drawing turtles and moths. [...]

Girls with Bikes

This month at Dr. Sketchy’s we had three awesome models who build their own vintage-style bicycles! And then they pose with them! Lots of fun was had, some great poses with good stories, here’s a couple:

How much cuter could they be?

Also last week, in memory of the great Frank Frazetta, we had a Drink and [...]

Ziggy played guitar

Last week I made it to my second Dr. Sketchy’s, and it was DAVID BOWIE THEMED! Kitty Von Quim and Honey Penny were amazing models, Bowie songs and covers playing the whole time, a very distorted version of lifedrawing sessions we had in college! And I couldn’t love it more. I’m tempted to take some of [...]

Ink and Studios

I’ve been spending a lot of time behind a tablet working in Flash and whenever I’m away from the screen I’ve been doing some giant inked comic pages that I’m excited to start posting next week. The sequel to Weird Fishes is coming along, one page a week. Speaking of which… my comic artwork is [...]

Events and Sketches

It’s been busy!

On February 20th I had my residency at the Cartoon Art Museum. Basically, I brought over all the supplies and drawings that I had out on my desk and set them up at the desk in CAM’s lobby, and got to work. Lots of kids were coming through for a cool samurai cartooning class, [...]

Daisies

I don’t know if you’ve seen the wonder that is the film “Daisies” but.. wow. Seriously inspired by this little Czech oddity. Good luck finding it, but yes, wow.

Oh, and here’s a part of a sketch I [...]

Shirts, CAM and Weird Fishes

Work takes up a lot of the time whether you like it or not, but comic art and writing, painting, and t-shirt manufacturing is in full-swing! Yes, t-shirts! I just put a few up at my etsy store for you to gaze at. I’ve got an assortment of sizes and styles that haven’t been photographed yet, [...]
