Siren Song 24 - Needles in the Trees

This is the first time I’ve spent more than three weeks on a single page. I had a very successful 2-week class teaching comic book art to kids, they came up with a lot of crazy, cool cartoons. I inked this page as a demo of various techniques in class. This leads me to my new decision that I have to draw my pages in batches rather than one at a time, but this may get in the way of regular updates, so stay tuned.

I recently saw my friend’s band “Fuxa” play a show and the sound was optimistic and yet worrying and dreamy, and I decided Dee would definitely be a fan. You can check them out here.

The second to last panel makes me really sad. But, this is an awesome update regardless of it being sad. Alsooo, did you quickly scribble out whatever that’s supposed to be on her headphones or did you think about it for a while?

Maybe you could give us updates as to how far along you are with the page? Sometimes I wonder if you’ve given up on Weird Fishes. It’s just that I don’t know if there is another page coming, but they’re always worth the wait.

bro- i drew the headphones from reference, and reaallly didn’t want to put the actual logo on them, so a squiggle it is! So yes, I thought about it for about 1.3 seconds.

Niall- I’m working on coming up with a new format for releasing the pages. But I absolutely have not given up on it! I’m thinking the webcomic release format just doesn’t work for this type of story, unless it was my full-time job and I could post a new page every other day. The ultimate goal is to release it as a book, and I’m going to be working on chunks of story rather than single pages. The solution, I’m thinking, is video. That’s all I’m going to hint at for now!! :)
